Our Vision

Located along the north bank of the majestic Columbia River, the Terminal 1 site is where people gathered to meet friends, and partake in trade with indigenous people and merchants from around the globe. This hub fostered a sense of local pride and identity. This site, from fur trading days until present is the original marine terminal for the Port of Vancouver. Ideally located in downtown Vancouver, it still stands between The Waterfront Vancouver and the I-5 bridge.

The Port of Vancouver’s waterfront development will represent our community’s aspirations, rich history and culture.

As a gateway to Washington state and a vibrant urban waterfront, the port’s mix of commercial, residential and civic development will welcome the public to the banks of the Columbia River.

It will contribute to the region’s economic prosperity and promote a healthful, sustainable space where the community feels a sense of pride and ownership.

Inspiration

As we looked to the city’s rich historic past for inspiration with Vancouver’s latest grand riverside development, we found that this district fills a yearning felt by many, young and old, for a genuine, historic and nostalgic connection to the community. More than a waterfront redevelopment, Terminal 1 returns to its roots to once again beckon masses to these beautiful shores.

Creating new experiences

Many of today’s consumers long for activities and experiences outside of online ordering. With farm-to-table restaurants, craft retail shops, and public gathering spaces for all, Terminal 1 fills that niche. Walk with us along the river shore, in the footsteps of time when life was simpler and moments like these were cherished.

What Will Terminal 1 be?

Terminal 1 will be a mixed-use development that features a public market and public spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy the beautiful splendor of the region that inspired those who settled here centuries ago. This project stands apart as the latest and most historically inspired in Vancouver’s waterfront renaissance, practically an origin story of the city’s rise through the decades.
